‘Psycho’ in the running at 2022 Cine Lebu fest in Chile

Iranian short film ‘Psycho’ is competing at the 2022 Oscar-qualifying El Festival Int'l de Cine de Lebu (FICIL) in Chile.

‘Psycho’, a short film from Iran, has been competing at the 2022 official lineup of the Oscar-qualifying El Festival Internacional de Cine de Lebu (FICIL) in Chile.

Mostafa Davtalab’s ‘Psycho’ has been joining Seyyed Mohsen Pourmohseni Shakib’s animation ‘The Boot’, bringing to two the number of Iranian representatives at the Chilean film festival.

The 14-minute ‘Psycho’ is about a young woman and a patient with a psychiatric disorder - who take a taxi to a psychiatric hospital.

On the way to the hospital, a serious betrayal conflict happens between the two that puts the driver in a maniac state.

Reza Amouzad, Roya Hosseini and Mohammad Nariman make the cast team of the short flick.

Previously, ‘Psycho’ competed at the Under the Moon International Film Festival (Islantilla Cinefórum) and the Riurau Int’l Short Film Festival, both in Spain.

The rest of the festival appearances of ‘Psycho’ include the 2nd Int’l Short Film Internet Festival “Diogenes 2021” in Georgia, the 10th Riurau Int’l Short Film Festival (RRFF) in Spain as well as the 22nd Corti da Sogni Festival in Italy.

The Cine de Lebu is the only festival in Chile that qualifies short films for the Oscar Awards in the categories International Animation, Regional Fiction and International Fiction.

The festival, which kicked off on February 11, will be running through February 19, 2022 in Lebu, Chile.
